Spitsbergen Marathon

is our partner and the organisator of the marathon.

Running in a unique ambiance

The trail starts and ends in the settlement Longyearbyen, next to the sports hall (Svalbard Hallen).
It takes you through the village down towards the Isfjord. From there it will take you through the Arctic wilderness, where you may be accompanied by a reindeer some arctic foxes and perhaps .....
The trail consists of 80% paved road and 20% unpaved.

Half & Full marathon

The full marathon is twice the track of the half marathon!

We start and finish at the Svalbard Hallen.
This is at a height of 53 meters above sea level. The course then descends to sea level.
From 15 km starts the climb back to the Svalbard Hallen where the finish will be or, if you run the full marathon, the pass is.
If you run the full marathon, you must pass the start/finish within 3 hours.

Finish: 6 hours marathon - 4,5 hours half marathon

10 kilometer

We start and finish at the Svalbard Hallen.
This is at a height of 53 meters above sea level.
The course then descends via the village to sea level.
From 4 km the climb to the Svalbard Hallen starts where the finish will be.



Finish: 10 km: 2 hours and 45 minutes
